John T. Garvin, 79, of Warren, entered into eternal rest Monday, December 9, 2019 at home. He was born July 24, 1940 in Warren, the son of Charles and Helen (Crawford) Garvin, and had lived in the area all his life.
John attended Warren G. Harding High School and worked on the blast furnace at Republic, LTV, and WCI Steel, retiring from WCI after thirty-two years. He belonged to the VFW, the Army-Navy Union, and the Sons of Italy and enjoyed his time socializing with friends. He was proud of the time he tried parachuting, and liked to watch television, going to the park and basking in the sun, and his dog, whom he referred to as his daughter.
He is sadly missed by his loving wife, Jennie May (Salway) Garvin, whom he married August 11, 1994; his son, Gary Garvin (Yvonne) of Grosse Pointe, Mich.;three grandchildren: Joshua, Kyle, and Joseph Garvin; a sister, Helen Delores Hudak of Warren; a stepson, Andrew Bayus of Birmingham, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Sue Garvin.
Preceding him in death are his parents; a sister, Evelyn Jean Garvin; and a brother, Charles Garvin.
Per his request, services are private. Cremation is taking place.
