John L. Calkins, Jr. 49, of Howland, died Saturday, August 26 of natural causes at the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born April 5, 1968 in Warren, the son of John L., Sr. and Sarah (Rufo) Calkins, and had lived in the area all his life.

John had worked at Niles Manufacturing and attended Glenn Christian Church.  He enjoyed WWF wrestling, music, and karaoke.

Surviving are three brothers: Jason (Nicole), Joseph (Tonya), and Richard Calkins, all of Warren; two nieces, Ashlee and Alyssa Calkins: two aunts, Mabel (Duane) Hopson of Bazetta and Debbie Clevenger of West Virginia; an uncle, Edward Clevenger of West Virginia; and many other aunts and uncles. His parents precede him in death.

Services are 4:00 pm Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with his great-aunt, Rev. Frances Apltauer, officiating.  Friends may call 3:00 to 4:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.  Material contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
