Goldie Marie Stokes

Goldie Marie Stokes, 82, of Niles, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at home.  She was born January 4, 1936 in Balken, W. Va., the daughter of Thomas and Ada (Wolford) Mounts, and had lived in Niles for over 20 years, coming from Austintown.

A 1954 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, Goldie had worked as a waitress and a bar maid at Bill’s Place and the Ice House Inn.  She was of the Christian faith and belonged to Moose Lodge 113 in Niles.  She enjoyed bingo, family and friends, reading, and spending time at the Moose Lodge.

She is sadly missed by her three children: Tina (Eric) Miller of Waynesfield, Ohio, Darkline (Leta) Stokes of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Sherri Stokes of Niles; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys (Bob) Darby of Austintown and Geraldine (Ted) Billet of Youngstown; and her many friends at the Heaton House.

Services are 4:00 pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.  Burial will be 9:30 am Monday at Niles Union Cemetery.  Friends may call 3:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
