Gloria Kosiba Obituary

Gloria E. Kosiba, 92, of Howland, entered peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 10:47 a.m. at Signature Health Care Center in Warren under the comforting care of hospice.

She was born November 14, 1926 in Youngstown the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Gaiarsa Soppelsa and was a lifelong area resident.

Gloria was a 1945 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown.

A former resident of Girard, Gloria came to Warren and retired from Truscon Steel where she worked as a secretary.

She was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Gloria was a loving wife who lived everyday to serve her husband and her family.  She taught them to sing and make music, to pray and thank God, to feed the birds, be good to their pets and mostly to show kindness to others.  She will be terribly missed and forever loved and remembered.

Fond memories of Gloria will be cherished by her husband of 61 years Albert J. Kosiba whom she married on August 3, 1957; three daughters Karen (Rob) Thomas of Marietta Georgia, Christine Kosiba of Frederick, Maryland and Linda (Mark) Lorei of Fuquay-Varina, NC; a brother George Soppelsa of East Hartford, CT and a sister Eleanor Chetsko of North Huntington, PA; seven grandchildren Julie (David) Culotta, Mary (Albert) Ramirez, Kelly (Brandon) Golatt, LTJG Matt (Hanna) Thomas, Anne, Jane and Kate Mientkiewicz and six great-grandchildren Adelyn, Cooper, Camden and Grace Culotta and Isla and Emma Golatt.

Besides her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by an infant son James Kosiba; a brother Anthony Soppelsa, and two sisters Catherine Gaiarsa and Florence Ronyak.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where a prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church with Fr. Peter Haladej officiating preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.

Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Gloria’s name to either Blessed Sacrament Parish, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 or to Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
