Earl R. Pennell, Jr., 83, of Cortland, entered into eternal rest Friday, October 5, 2018 at Hospice House in Poland. He was born July 3, 1935 in Youngstown, the son of Earl R., Sr. and Mary (Chorey) Pennell, and had lived in the area all his life.
A graduate of Youngstown North High School, Earl earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Youngstown State University. A Professional Engineer, he retired as Vice-President of Engineering and Manufacturing at Wheatland Tube as well as serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the John Maneely Company. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Champion and enjoyed all things outdoors, especially water skiing, fishing, hunting and carpentry.
His life will continue to be celebrated by his loving wife, Barbara (Oslovic) Pennell, Ph.D., R.N., whom he married April 18, 1959; four children: Suzanne Marie Pennell (David Nemet) of New Jersey, Jacqueline Pennell-Meredith of California, Stephanie Pennell (Donald Bott) of Michigan, and Earl R. Pennell III of Youngstown, Ohio; and four grandchildren: Eric Ross Pennell Crouse (Meghan Farrell Crouse), Matthew Scott Pennell Crouse, Devon Pennell Meredith, and Madison Pennell Meredith.
His parents preceded him in death.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. William Catholic Church, 5431 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren with Rev. Michael Balash officiating. Entombment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Friends and family may call 10:00 to 10:50 am Tuesday at the church.
