Charles Davis, Jr., 82, of Warren, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at home. He was born March 15, 1936 in Warren, the son of Charles, Sr. and Estella (Matlock) Davis, and had lived in the area all his life.
Charles attended Warren G. Harding High School and worked in electroplating for Packard Electric, retiring after 42 years of employment. He was a member of Grace AME Church, where he was trustee pro-tem and had been head trustee for many years.
An avid bowler, he had bowled in the Packard Electric league and for the Russ Amoco team. He had coached Little League, and also enjoyed volleyball, ping-pong, golf, gardening, and was a terrific handyman, especially with cars.
Fond memories of Charles live on with his loving wife, Judith (Blakely) Davis, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage; five sons: Charles R. “Randy” of Columbus, Brian D. (Marie) of Warren, Kenneth M. (Viktoriya) of Hawaii, Gary S. and John S. Davis, both of Warren; one daughter, Kacey R. (Antione) Smith of Solon; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and the Grace A.M.E. Church community and families.
Preceding him in death are his parents; two sisters, Ida Mae Hall and Dorothy Gary; and four brothers: James, William, Edward, and Nathaniel Davis.
The family will receive friends for visitation at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Grace A.M.E. Church, 1137 Main Ave. S.W., Warren, for one hour prior to the 11:00 service, with Rev. Otis Gordon officiating. Entombment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park.
