WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) - Bessie L. Harvey, 87, of Warren, Ohio, entered heaven’s gates on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at St. Joseph Health Center.
Bessie was born on December 10, 1930 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Hardy B. and Elizabeth (Collins) Hilton.
A long time member of First Baptist Church in Braceville, Ohio, Bessie enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was also a member of the Women’s Braceville Smart Set Club.
Bessie worked as a nurse’s aide at Washington Square Healthcare (formerly Washington Square Nursing Home) for many years and enjoyed traveling, cooking, old-time gospel music, church fellowships, and spending time with her family.
Fond memories of Bessie live on in the hearts of her three sons, Robert III (Karen) of Warren, Richard K. of Atlanta, Georgia and Andre Harvey of Warren; her daughter, Laura Jean (Calvin) Green of Warren; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Sylvester (Josie) Corely of Dayton, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her loving husband, Robert Harvey, Jr., who died January 16, 1988; one son, Mitchell E. Harvey; two sisters, Ruby Corely and Geraldine Whitfield and two brothers, James and Henry Pennington.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Braceville, with Rev. Orneil Heller officiating.
Friends may call 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3rd at the church prior to services.
Family will receive friends at 5878 Parkman Rd, at the home of her daughter Laura Green and at 1724 Arthur N.W., the home of her son Robert Harvey III.
Interment will follow at Braceville Township Cemetery.
