Anthony "Tony" Lambea Obituary

Anthony J. “Tony” Lambea, 92, of Howland Township, passed away at 10:04 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019 in the emergency room at Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren after becoming ill at his daughter’s home in Champion.

Tony was born October 11, 1926 in Danbury, Connecticut the son of the late Juan and Anna Scozzafava Lambea and was a graduate of LaBrae High School.

A Veteran of the United States Navy, Tony served his country during World War II as a translator and interpreter for the Spanish language for his service to his country he was awarded the American Area Victory Medal World War II and the National Defense Service Medal.  He was honorably discharged on September 13, 1954.

Tony retired as a machinist with Copperweld Steel in 1986 after working for 44 years.  Among his many talents and hobbies was carpentry, ceramic tiling and woodworking.  He mastered many of these talents and was always willing to lend a helping hand in doing many of these projects for his many family and friends.

He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. William Catholic Church in Champion.  He was a member of the VFW Post #1090 in Warren and participated in the Honor Flight Attendee Program.

Tony was married on May 25, 1953 to the former Maria Fernandez and they were married for 65 years until her passing on January 20, 2019.

He will be deeply missed by his two daughters Anna (Paul Wolf) Stamolis of Champion and Lisa (John) Morello with whom he made his home in Howland; grandchildren Melissa (Bradley) Kady of Ft. Lauderdale; Michelle (Chad) Fritz of Columbus; John Morello of Sacramento; Emily Morello of Atlanta; Elisa Morello of Howland; and three great grandchildren Micah and Luca Fritz and Cameron Kady.  Tony is also survived by two brothers Richard Cipriani of Connecticut and Harold (Eileen) Cipriani of Connecticut; two sisters Mary (Robert) Heinchon of Long Lake, Florida; and Marcelina Lambea of Spain; three sisters-in-law with whom he was very close Ana Buckner of Warren, Emilia Nogales of Champion and Laly Fernandez (Dr. Steven) Silverstein of Ft. Lauderdale and by many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Tony was preceded in death by an infant son Anthony Lambea; daughter Linda Lambea; son-in-law Phillip Stamolis and brothers-in-law Domingo Fernandez and Manuel Nogales.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with entombment to follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna with full military honors to be rendered by the great men of the Trumbull County Honor Guard American Legion Post #540.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Tony’s name to the Disabled American Veterans 2044 Youngstown Road SE, Warren, Ohio 44484.
