Aiden Mitchell Elder

Aiden Mitchell Elder, 6, of Cortland passed away peacefully with his mommy and daddy and family by his side on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 12:38 p.m. at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital following a courageous battle with leukemia and lymphoma.

Aiden was born on September 24, 2012 in Warren the child of Aaron D. and Courtney E. Callahan Elder.

He was in kindergarten at Lakeview Elementary in Mrs. Haynie’s class.  He loved playing Fortnite; going to the movies and loved being with his friends.  Aiden enjoyed playing every sport imaginable which led him to have a strong spirit and a fighting wit to never lose and give up even through his illness.

Aiden will always be loved and deeply missed but never forgotten by his parents, Aaron and Courtney (fiancé Charles “Chuck” Williams); his papa and nana David “Eddie” and Lori (Brindley) Elder of Howland and papa and nana Dwight “Mitch” and Jeannette (Richards) Callahan of Cortland; paternal great grandmother Carol (Aucreman) Brindley of Warren; he was excited to be a big brother to his baby brother Noah Aiden Williams expected to arrive this summer; aunt Aubrey (fiancé Corey Antinone) Elder of Columbus, uncle Austin Elder of Warren; his best friend “Tucker”; numerous cousins, extended family and by a host of friends, especially his best friend Hannah Richards.

Aiden was met in heaven by his maternal great grandparents Ward and Mary Richards and Harles and Reva Callahan; paternal great grandparents Thomas “Pops” and Ruth “Granny” Elder and Richard “Papa Doc” Brindley and his great aunt Sheila Richards.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in Bazetta Christian Church 4131 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Cortland, Ohio 44410 and again on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at North-Mar Church 3855 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44484.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm at North-Mar Church with Pastors Myron Daum and Michael Nicholson officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Aiden’s name to The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, P.O. Box 733, Youngstown, Ohio 44501 or donations may be directed to the family.
