John Bricker Toles Sr

WARREN - John Bricker Toles Sr., age 87 of Warren, Ohio, died at his home on February 25, 2024.

He was born on June 29, 1936, in Braceville, Ohio, the son of the late Theodore and Ella (nee Barnes) Toles Sr.

John was a 1954 graduate of Braceville High School. While in high school he lettered in baseball, basketball and track. He excelled in track and field qualifying for the State Track Meet in Columbus in the high jump and 440. He did receive a track and field scholarship and attended The Ohio State University.

John was a team member of a traveling baseball team called the Braceville A/C; his hobbies included playing cards, horse racing, and dancing. His greatest joy was his love for his family.

Mr. Toles worked for 41 years as a rubber worker at Denman Tire and Rubber Corp.

Survivors include his three children, John Bricker Toles Jr of Warren, Dorinda Hicks of Austintown and Deirdre Toles of Warren; his step-son, Steven (Tarin) Seeden of Pamona, CA; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and one brother, Walter Thomas (Ursula) Toles of Warren. Also surviving is a special family friend/his caregiver, Renee Evans.

Other than his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, the former Doris Cole; 1 step-son, 1 granddaughter, five sisters and three brothers.

Per John’s wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life Service at Restoration Christian Fellowship Church, 760 Main Avenue SW, Warren, Ohio 44483 on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 12:00 PM.

Family and friends may visit at the church starting at 11:00 AM.

Friends and family will also be received at the home of his daughter, Dorinda Hicks, 2300 Penny Lane, Austintown, Ohio 44515.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, Warren, Ohio.
