Donald William "Don" Swogger

AUSTINTOWN, OHIO, Donald William “Don” Swogger, age 87 of Austintown, Ohio, died on March 12, 2024 at Hospice House in Poland.

He was born on January 31, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence Jay and Mary Margaret (nee Gilligan) Swogger.

Don was a 1956 graduate of Hubbard High School. He worked all his life in the meat cutting industry, working at various companies, retiring in 1999. He held many positions as a meat cutter, meat manager, meat supervisor and found his niche in meat sales.
 

He enjoyed golfing, boating, custom hotrods and traveling-especially to the Colorado and Wyoming mountains.

Survivors include his wife, the former Nancy Gettan, whom he married on February 19, 1972; his daughter, Nancy Ruby of Austintown; his two grandsons, Nate (Zoe) Weiser of Kinsman and Aaron (Esther) Weiser of Johnson City, NY; one great-granddaughter, Anela; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that mourn his loss.

Other than his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Hoban.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, 12:00 PM at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, where Pastor Don Christensen will celebrate Don’s life.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM.
