William F. Jarrette, Sr., 86, of Warren, died peacefully at his home Friday, September 1, 2017. He was born June 2, 1931 in Warren, the son of John L., Sr and Frazier (Harbin) Jarrette, and had lived in the area all his life.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, William proudly served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, sniper, radioman and radio repairman in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as a foreman at Republic Steel, and years ago played in a band which travelled all over Northeast Ohio, playing saxophone, flute, clarinet, and trumpet. He enjoyed computers, both programming and repairing, jazz, blues, photography, and painting pictures. He had built houses and was a jack-of-all-trades.
Surviving are two sons: Tim of Warren and John Jarrette (aka Susej Sevil) of Newton Falls; five grandchildren: Marketta Gunther, Tanice Patterson, John Hazinakis, Katrina Riley, and William F. Jarrette III, all of Warren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Luella McQueen of Warren. William had raised and was especially close to grandchildren Marketta and William.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Hattie (Barrows) Jarrette, who died on December 25, 2007; a son, William F. Jarrette, Jr.; a sister, Cynthia Jarrette; and a brother, John L. Jarrette, Jr.
Services are 10:00 am Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with interment following at Pineview Memorial Park. Friends may call 9:00 to 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.
