Vera M. Sklad, 88, of Burton, died peacefully Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at University Hospitals in Cleveland.  She was born March 25, 1929 in Hamilton, Pa., the daughter of Oran R. and Helen Holben Sprankle Reesman and Carl Sprankle.

A homemaker, Vera had been a member of the Presbyterian church in Clarksville, Pa.  She was Mom to a lot of people, and enjoyed singing, cooking, and making fudge.  She was the love of her two dogs, Angel and Little Debbie.

Surviving is her daughter, Deborah M. Baxter of Burton; a sister, Anna Jean (Robert) Turner of Warren, Pa.; and a brother, Homer D. (Sara) Reesman) of Waynesburg, Pa.  Preceding her in death are her two husbands: Robert C. Baxter, who died in 1970, and John E. Sklad, who died in 2006; a son, Robert C. Baxter, who died in 2002; ten brothers: Edward, Harry, George, Donald, William, Carl, Homer, and Theodore Sprankle, and Oran and Howard Reesman; and three sisters: Della Bradley, Laura Barber, and Mary Blair.

Per her request, cremation is taking place.  Friends and family will celebrate her life with a graveside service at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Buckingham Cemetery, Deenston, Pa.
