GALLOWAY, N.J. - Ruby Ann Cowan, 85, was born on January 14, 1932 in Camden, Ala. to Julia Hall. Ruby went to sleep in the Lord on August 26, 2017.
Ruby married the love of her life, James E. Cowan, on May 13, 1955 in Pensacola, Fla. The union produced eight children: Ronald E. (Carol) Cowan, both deceased, Donna Ridieau of Louisiana, Cheryl Hardge of Hammonton, N.J., Darryl (Rose) Cowan of Columbus, Ohio, Christopher Cowan of Dayton, Ohio, Annette Cowan (Earl) Godfrey of Bermuda, James E. Cowan, Jr., deceased, and Marsha Cowan Johnson Williams of Houston, Tex.
Ruby is survived by her brother Jesse Hall of Pensacola, Fla. and her sister Cherry Stallworth of Dallas, Tex. A sister, Dora Walters, and four brothers, David, Johnnie, Samuel, and Ned Hall precede her in death. Ruby was a triplet along with Ned and Cherry.
Ruby is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruby had worked in housekeeping for Trumbull Memorial Hospital for many years, and had done work in the schools as a teacher’s aide. A member of Hoyt Street Church of God in Christ, she loved the Lord and was the sweetest woman you could ever meet. Upon retiring, Ruby and James moved to Houston, Texas before relocating to New Jersey.
Services for Ruby are 11:00 am Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Hoyt Street Church of God in Christ in Warren, with Elder Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 Wednesday at the church.
