Cortland – James Zion passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Community Skilled Health Care Center in Warren with his wife Kay C. Zion and daughter Diana James at his side. James was born July 11, 1938 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania a son of the late John and Ruth (Swanson) Zion. He was the only child of 8 born in a hospital. James grew up in a small coal mining town in Cadogan, Pennsylvania and then worked at General Motors in New York and then in Lordstown where he retired after 35 years. James loved beagle dogs, hunting and taking care of his yard and garden, especially flowers. He will be sadly missed by his wife, of 58 years, the former Kay C. Silvis, whom he married August 1, 1958; his only daughter: Diana L. (Don) James of Howland; two beloved grandchildren: Jonathan of Portland, Oregon and Jaimee of Howland; one sister: Irene Lewis of Cadogan, Pennsylvania; and his best friend for over 40 years Jim (Kay) Meyers. James is preceded in death by four brothers: Joe, Bill, Richard, and Bob and two sisters: Mabel and Pat. Per his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Pastors from First Assembly of God, Hospice of the Valley and Community Skilled Nursing Home for all their care and support.
