Brookfield – Dwight “Moe” Dawson died Wednesday November 30th 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a short illness at the age of 74. He was born April 20, 1942 in Tiltonsville, Ohio to the late Arthur and Doris Dawson. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Doris Dawson, his brother Robert Dawson and his sister Judy Wharton. Moe was a 1960 graduate of Warren Consolidated High School. He also attended Ohio University. He was in management with Sears Roebuck and Company for 30 years. He was known for his great sense of humor, friendly smile and always looking at the bright side of life. He was a kind, gentle, caring man and his great love for his family showed in everything that he said and did. He was a skilled craftsman making many beautiful pieces of furniture. His workshop was his favorite place to be. He loved the hours he spent outdoors cutting the grass on the property that he loved so much. He was a convert to Catholicism and was deeply committed to his Catholic faith. He belonged to Our Lady of Mount Caramel Basilica in Youngstown, Ohio where he was a member of the Apostolate of Perpetual Adoration. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist in his previous parish for many years, was involved in facilitating various spiritual growth programs and also worked in the Catholic Marriage Preparation Program as a sponsor couple, along with his wife Patty, for over 20 years. Moe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren and great grandchild were the delight of his life and he had a close relationship with them. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Patty, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Moe is survived by his son Douglas Dawson of Niles, Ohio and daughter Paula Yauger of Warren, Ohio, along with three grandchildren, Zachary Yauger, Taylor Yauger, Alissa Dawson and great grandson Ashton. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and family members that he deeply cherished. Family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society or the Warren Family Mission. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel in Youngstown with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio, Jr. as celebrant. Friends may call one hour prior to Mass Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10 .am. and also from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Rd NE, Warren, Ohio.
