Chester J. Evans, 74, of Warren, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.  He was born March 24, 1943 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Warren, the son of Chester Evans and Mary Ellen (Burns) Evans.  He was raised in Tamaqua, Pa. where he met his loving wife Joanne of 56 years.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Chet retired from American Welding, where he worked for 28 years.  An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a lifetime member of the Mosquito Conservation League and served on the board.  He enjoyed raising beagles and touched many young men’s lives.  Chet held a special place in his heart for Zach Reeves.  Chet and Joanne travelled all 50 states and abroad.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne (Matruder) Evans, whom he married April 4, 1961; two sons: Joseph T. (Mary) of Girard, and John R. (Patricia) Evans of Yorkville, Ill.; and eight grandchildren: Jessica Evans, Courtney (Benjamin) Sanders, Alyssia Evans, Cody Evans, Nick Nunziato, and triplets Shannon, Terrin, and Kevin Horwitz.  Preceding him in death are three brothers: John Mauer, and James and Christopher Evans.

Per his request, cremation is taking place.  His life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 3 at the Mosquito Bowman Archery Club, 2535 McCleary-Jacoby Rd., Cortland, Ohio 44410.  He will be forever loved and missed by all.
